Financial Planning Calculator

The dashboard: a featured calculator up top, ten category chips, and a scoped grid underneath each one

Most people scatter their financial planning across a dozen bookmarked calculators, a couple of spreadsheets, and whatever the last finance blog told them. Financial Planning Calculator puts all of it in one place — retirement, investing, debt, savings, tax, insurance, and real estate, organized so you can actually find the number you're looking for.

It's a live web app at finance.nitinmiskin.com, built around one idea: financial tools shouldn't require you to already know finance to use them.

The Problem

Individual financial calculators are everywhere online, but they're inconsistent, ad-heavy, and disconnected from each other. Someone planning their retirement might need a FIRE calculator, an NPS return estimate, and a gratuity payout — three different tools, three different interfaces, none of them talking to each other.

The goal here was to remove that friction: one consistent design system, one place to plan an entire financial life, grouped the way people actually think about their money.

What's Inside

The dashboard organizes every calculator into ten categories, each shown as a chip with a live count so you know exactly how much is inside before you click in:

🎯 Retirement Planning 3 📈 Investment Calculators 7 💳 Debt & Loan 7 💰 Savings & Deposits 4 📋 Financial Planning 2 🧾 Tax Planning 2 🛡️ Insurance 2 💼 Business & Freelancer 3 🏠 Real Estate 2 💎 Wealth & Net Worth 2

That's over 30 calculators, each scoped to a single question — no generic "do everything" tool trying to be all things at once.

Leading With the Question People Actually Ask

Instead of opening on a wall of options, the homepage leads with a single Featured Calculator — currently "How long will my money last after retirement?" — a retirement runway estimate with inflation adjustments baked in. It's the one question almost everyone lands on first, so it gets the front-row seat.

Inside Retirement Planning

FIRE Calculator — plan the path to financial independence and an early retirement.
NPS Calculator — project National Pension Scheme returns and retirement corpus.
Gratuity Calculator — know your gratuity entitlement before you need it.

Every category on the dashboard follows the same pattern: a short, plain-language question as the calculator's subtitle, so you never have to guess what a tool actually does before opening it.

Design Approach

The interface is deliberately calm — white space, a single accent blue, and card-based navigation instead of dense tables or forms up front. Financial tools already carry enough cognitive load; the UI's job was to get out of the way, not add to it.

Category chips double as a table of contents and a progress indicator, and the featured-calculator pattern up top means the homepage never feels like a directory — it always has a clear, opinionated starting point.

"A financial tool people actually use is one that answers their first question before it asks them anything back."
